Thing Jesus said to me when I was young,

But I didn’t listen I was having too much fun.

The world seemed wonderful and life seemed fine,

Things were so sweet I couldn’t spare him any time, so I said

Things Jesus said to me just the other day,

He said you better open up your eyes and turn the other way.

Don’t get me wrong now, I’m not one to complain,

But how’s someone like me going to change in just one day.

The years have gone and passed me by

The nights were cold as stone

Now I don't ever want to walk one day without you

Without you

Things Jesus says to me now I’ve grown,

It’s good to know that I’m not walking here alone.

It might be a song I hear or something that I see.

He always shows me where I need to be.

Oh I’ve been thinking,

Oh I’ve been missing

All the love that you have for me.

Oh  I’m now waiting,

All the Good News that you have for me, yeah, yeah

Things Jesus says to me,

Things Jesus says to me,

Oh now I'm listening, I'm listening, I'm listening, I'm listening, I'm listening

Things Jesus says to me

Things Jesus says to me

Things Jesus says to me

Things Jesus says to me

Things Jesus says to me

Oh, I'm listening now

Lamentations 3:27-33 New International Version (NIV)

27 It is good for a man to bear the yoke
    while he is young.

28 Let him sit alone in silence,
for the Lord has laid it on him.
29 Let him bury his face in the dust—
    there may yet be hope.
30 Let him offer his cheek to one who would strike him,
and let him be filled with disgrace.

31 For no one is cast off
    by the Lord forever.
32 Though he brings grief, he will show compassion,
so great is his unfailing love.
33 For he does not willingly bring affliction
    or grief to anyone.
